FAQ

Shipping & Insurance

Is the insured shipping label really free?
Yes, the shipping label is completely free including insured shipping both ways. There are no hidden fees or charges.
How does Bivvy shipping work without a kit?
Bivvy is fully kitless. After you start a shipment, Bivvy sends a free QR code by text and email. You bring your items to any FedEx location, show the QR code, and FedEx packages and labels everything for you. There is no box to request, nothing to print, and no waiting days for a mailer to arrive. Your package ships overnight and stays insured the entire way.
Is my package insured?
Every Bivvy shipment is fully insured from pickup to payout. Coverage protects your gold, jewelry, coins, and diamonds in transit to Bivvy and back to you if you decline an offer. If anything happens during shipping, you are covered. Bivvy uses FedEx for tracked, insured overnight delivery, so you can follow your package at every step.

Offers & Payouts

How quickly will I receive my
payout?
Most offers are ready within 24 hours of Bivvy receiving your items. Once you accept and choose a payout method, payment is sent immediately. You can be paid by direct deposit (ACH bank transfer), PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Bitcoin, or USDC stablecoin. There is no waiting for a check in the mail, and cash-equivalent methods like Venmo and PayPal often land in seconds.
What payout methods does Bivvy offer?
Bivvy pays you through six methods: bank transfer (ACH), PayPal, Venmo, Cash App, Bitcoin, and USDC stablecoin. You choose your preferred method when you accept your offer, and every option is treated equally. Cash and digital wallet payouts are typically instant. Bitcoin and stablecoin payouts are sent to the wallet address you provide.
How do you determine the value
of my items?
Bivvy bases every offer on weight, metal purity, current market prices, and the condition of your items. GIA-certified appraisers verify each piece using professional testing equipment, so the offer reflects what your gold and jewelry are actually worth. Gold offers follow the live spot price and karat purity, while diamonds and gemstones are valued on their grade. There are no lowball quotes and no hidden fees.
What if I don't accept your offer?
You can decline any offer with no cost and no obligation. If you decline, Bivvy ships your items back to you using the same fully insured shipping, free of charge. You are never pressured to sell, and you keep full control of your items until you choose to accept. Your offer is yours to take or leave.
Are there any fees?
Yes, but only when you sell. Requesting an offer is free, and declining costs nothing, with free insured return shipping. If you accept, a 15% to 20% platform fee applies depending on the item, covering authentication, testing, insured shipping, processing, and support.

What We Buy

What types of items do you accept?
Bivvy buys gold jewelry, gold coins, gold bars, scrap gold, silver items, and diamonds. That includes rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and broken or unworn pieces. Items do not need to be in perfect condition, since value comes from the metal and stones. If you are unsure about a specific piece, contact the Bivvy team before you ship.
Do my items need to be in good
condition?
No. Bivvy buys gold and jewelry in any condition, including broken, tangled, single earrings, and worn pieces. The value of gold comes from its weight and purity, not its appearance, so damaged items are still worth real money. Diamonds and gemstones are valued on their characteristics regardless of the setting they are in.
Do you buy diamonds and gemstons?
Our primary focus is precious metals, but diamonds and premium gemstones in pieces you are selling are evaluated as part of the appraisal - not ignored. Significant stones, including diamonds over 0.5 carats, are assessed and factored into your offer where applicable.Smaller accent diamonds, melee stones, lab grown diamonds/gems, and synthetic gems are generally not included in the valuation. If you choose not to sell a piece after receiving your offer, your jewelry is returned to you in full.Gemstone valuation is a secondary consideration at Bivvy right now. If you have a piece where the stones are the primary value driver - a loose diamond, a significant sapphire, a GIA-certified stone - reach out to us directly before sending and we can advise on whether we are the right fit for that item.

The Process

How does selling with Bivvy work?
Selling with Bivvy takes three steps: scan, ship, and get paid. You answer a few quick questions and receive a free insured QR shipping label, scan it at any FedEx location, and your items ship overnight. Within 24 hours of arrival, Bivvy sends a detailed offer. You accept and get paid the same day, or decline and get your items back free.
How long does the whole process take?
Most customers go from shipping to payout in about two days. Your package ships overnight by FedEx, Bivvy appraises your items and prepares an offer within 24 hours of arrival, and payment is sent immediately once you accept. Timing can vary slightly with FedEx pickup times and the number of items, but the process is built to be fast.

Trust & Security

Is Bivvy legit and safe to use?
Yes. Bivvy is run by third-generation jewelers with GIA-certified appraisal expertise, and every shipment is fully insured from pickup to payout. Appraisals are transparent, offers are itemized, and you can decline at no cost. Bivvy is a registered precious metals dealer and follows state and federal requirements for buying gold and jewelry.
Who appraises my items?
GIA-certified experts appraise every item, every time. Bivvy comes from three generations of family jewelry experience, and each piece is evaluated with professional testing equipment rather than a quick guess. Your offer is based on a real, documented valuation of metal purity, weight, and any stones.
